Might as Well, Can’t Dance!

The title of this blog was a favorite saying among the teenagers in the very conservative church in which I grew up.  That’s not the reason I can’t dance, though.  The real reason is that I never really learned how.  This is National Dance Week, so I thought I’d share with you why I never learned how.

In 1963, When I was 14 years old and in 9th grade, a friend of mine taught me some basic guitar chords.  I practiced and practiced until I could change chords pretty well and grew some calluses on my fingertips (they actually bled at first).  The next year, my first year in high school, the student-teacher in the concert band, where I played bass clarinet, was a guy named Bob Demmon.  He was also the leader of a rock ‘n’ roll band called The Astronauts, which eventually had a successful recording career.  They played a concert at school, the first time I had heard a rock ‘n’ roll band live.  I was so knocked out by the music that I started my own band, and I’ve been hooked on playing music ever since.

So, what does that have to do with never learning to dance?  Well, if my band wasn’t playing at a dance, I went to dances where other bands were playing.  I didn’t take a date, and I didn’t dance, I went to watch the guitar players and see what they were playing and how they were doing it!  So, I didn’t learn to dance, and I do play professional level guitar and bass, sing, write music and record it.  I have a YouTube music channel at https://bit.ly/D-and-H-YouTube if you’d like to hear some of my music. It would be awesome if you subscribed too!

The moral of this story is that you get good at the things you learn, and into which you put your heart, your focus, and your effort.   It’s no different with selling.  Many people say, “I’m not a salesperson,” or “I’m not good at selling.”  You can learn to sell if you want to!  It just takes someone to teach you the basics and a ton of willingness, practice, time, and effort.  And if you own a chiropractic office or service-oriented business, it’s vital that you and/or your support team are excellent at selling, because sales is the only way to generate revenue and profit!

If you want to learn to sell effectively and successfully, let’s chat!  You can have a FREE strategy session with me, ask questions, learn some things about selling, and find out whether partnering with me to increase your sales skills and your revenue is a good fit or not.  You can schedule your session today on the calendar at http://bit.ly/wizard-strategy.
